If I drop my 3ds file and the six associated .jpg files into my Assets folder, the materials are all assigned correctly and I can simply drag the model into the scene and it's good to go.
What I'm trying to do is create a utility program to allow the user to select files at runtime to be imported.
I created a simple car driving game to see if I can get mirrors working in free version of Unity 3D and I got them working. For now, I made the car move forward and backwards without using physics. Is there a simple vehicle script that use physics? Is it possible to have the car's doors, hood, and trunk lid open and close? This tutorial takes you through the process of creating a basic functioning car.To start, select GameObject The fundamental object in Unity scenes, which can represent characters, props, scenery, cameras, waypoints, and more.A GameObject’s functionality is defined by the Components attached to it. I'm doing this so that while I'm controlling something else such as a vehicle, the only control script enabled at the time is the vehicle, and vice versa for when I'm not in the vehicle. I did find a tutorial on the Unity Web site for Enabling and Disabling components but it uses a light component as an example, and I have no idea of how to do. May 28, 2016 SimpleRaycastVehicle-Unity. This Unity 5 project contains alternative raycast vehicle examples that were converted from Unityscript examples to C#.
Then I'm hoping to use an asset bundler from the Store to easily bundle and upload the bundle to the cloud, so that the bundle can be used by another Unity program.
Unity3d File Editor
I found a post that I created this script from:
How To Edit Unity3d Files
This script will import the .jpg file and import it as a material to whatever the script is attached to.
Maybe I need to import my 3ds file as a....model(?) to an empty game object?

Really not sure how to even search for this solution. I've been at it all day without much luck. Any leads would be appreciated.
